A facile and efficient synthetic strategy to 3-((trifluoromethyl)thio)-4H-chromen-4-one was developed. AgSCF3 and Trichloroisocyanuric Acid (TCCA) were employed here to generate active electrophilic trifluoromethylthio species in situ. This reaction could proceed under mild conditions in a short reaction time and be insensitive to air and moisture.
A new system of chlorination at room temperature was developed by using water as main reaction media,methanol as co-solvent, trichloroisocyanuric acid(TCCA) as chlorinating reagent and p-TsOH as catalyst.Some acetophenones and aromatic compounds with strong electron-donating groups were chlorinated in this system successfully and the yields of chlorinated products were 82.0%~95.2%.The water-methanol system was re-used five times and the yields of chlorinated products did not decline obviously.This system with low toxicity is mild,cheap and reusable and it is close to the requirement of green chemistry.
